Now, my name's Gudule...

Perhaps some of you who have read the book recognise this character.
Like the title says this is sister Gudule aka Paquette la Chantefleurie, Esmeralda's mother.
After the gypsies have abducted her daughter she decides to live the rest of her life in pain and in privation.
This scene shows the first time the reader gets to meet the recluse of the rolandtower.

In my opinion Paquette's fate is one of the most despairing ones in the novel. Though her story isn't that romantic as Frollo's is, it is not less dramatic.

PS: She's 36 years old, as old as Frollo.
